Nakahara is a thoughtful and caring person, evident when he reluctantly sent an eviction notice to Kiryu because of his concerns about Okinawa's economy and when he adopts Saki away from her abusive parents. Nakahara became a yakuza around the age of 20. His yakuza family owned the land that resides around Morning Glory Beach for decades, and fostered the community's growth.

Nakahara's Ryudo Family was owed a debt by an unnamed gambling addict, who was the biological father of a girl called Saki. Around 2005, When Nakahara and Rikiya Shimabukuro went to collect on the debt, they found that the man had committed suicide by hanging, with Saki clutching her dead father's leg. Knowing that Saki's mother did not care about her, Nakahara reluctantly took her in.

Involvement[]

Yakuza 3: 2008-2009[]

Nakahara is Kiryu's landlord, owning the land that Morning Glory Orphanage is on. At one point, out of concern for Okinawa's economy and thinking, he threatens to evict Kiryu from the orphanage, thinking that evicting its residents and selling their land for a new resort would help financially. The kids of the orphanage urge Kiryu to have a word with him. Nakahara reveals his motives and decides to not evict him.

On Nakahara's 61st birthday, Saki is kidnapped by the Tamashiro Family after Saki's Mother came looking for her. Nakahara is still angered by the time Kiryu meets him, and threatens to kill him, but is calmed down, and Kiryu goes to rescue Saki. Nakahara follows him later, worried that Saki would choose to be with her abusive biological mother, but his worries are eased when he sees how much Saki cares for him. As thanks, he swears an oath of brotherhood with Kiryu, learning from Daigo Dojima that Kiryu is the Fourth Chaiman of the Tojo Clan.

In 2009, Nakahara is confronted by Joji Kazama and Andre Richardson for the deed to the land Morning Glory Orphanage resides on. Richardson shoots him after Nakahara refuses and takes the deed afterwards, but Nakahara is able to call an ambulance for himself. He is taken to the hospital and treated, while Saki gives the others a sketch of Joji to let them know of his involvement. After Nakahara recovers sufficiently, he resides at Morning Glory temporarily.

Yoshitaka Mine brings the Tamashiro Family to destroy Morning Glory to spite Kiryu while he is away, and Nakahara is unable to dissuade them with his pleading. After destroying the orphanage, Tetsuo Tamashiro takes Nakahara, to a bullfighting ring and lures Kiryu and Rikiya there, where he sets two large bulls on Nakahara. One bull is about to rush him from behind, when the previously mute Saki finds her voice to scream out a warning to him, giving him the strength to grab the bull and throw it away. After the dust settles, Nakahara witnesses Rikiya die from taking a bullet to protect Kiryu.
