Reina (麗奈) is a supporting character in Yakuza 0 and Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami. She is the proprietor of Serena, a bar on Tenkaichi Street in Kamurocho.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

In Yakuza 0, Reina wears her hair down, while in Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami she wears it in a bun with bangs swept to the right. She also has a beauty mark on her cheek, below her left eye. A passer-by in Yakuza Kiwami describes her as being a classical beauty.[citation needed]

Attire[]

In Yakuza 0, Reina wears a red blazer with black trim and gold buttons over a purple, thigh-length dress and black high heels. In Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami she is most commonly seen wearing a white dress shirt (unbuttoned enough in Yakuza Kiwami to show her black top underneath), double button gray bell bottom slacks, and black high heels. She is also briefly seen wearing a pink kimono with a white floral pattern. In all of her appearances, she wears a gold chain necklace and gold hoop earrings.

Personality[]

Reina is a kind and caring woman who considers Akira Nishikiyama, Kazuma Kiryu and Yumi Sawamura as friends. She was nothing short of supportive and always sought to help them even when the circumstances were dire. Throughout the years, she harbored deep unrequited feelings of love for Nishikiyama, so much so that she was willing to sell Kiryu out just because she loved Nishikiyama. This however, proved to be her downfall, despite her remorse and attempt to atone for what she had done.

Background[]

Reina became the owner of the Serena bar sometime before 1988.

Involvement[]

Yakuza 0: 1988[]

Reina is the proprietress of Serena and an acquaintance of Kazuma Kiryu and Akira Nishikiyama who lends her assistance to them both in the events that follow after Kiryu is framed for the murder in the empty lot. Later in the game, she assists Nishikiyama when Goro Majima fights him in Serena. During the battle, she tries to hit Majima with a bottle. With Majima being the chivalrous type, he does not retaliate against her, but simply says "Nice shot!" She also tosses a healing item to Nishikiyama, which Majima can intercept.

1990[]

Reina employs Yumi Sawamura as another hostess at Serena.

Yakuza/Yakuza Kiwami: 1995-2005[]

Following the events surrounding the murder of Sohei Dojima, Reina stops opening Serena to the general public, only allowing those she considered regulars through its doors. During the years Kiryu is in prison, she continues to be in love with Nishikiyama even as his ambition and desire corrupt him.

After Kiryu's parole, he visits Reina at Serena, who surprises him by saying that Yumi Sawamura's younger sister Mizuki Sawamura had come to Kamurocho and for a time worked at the bar, until she dropped off the map after opening her own bar called Ares. While Reina does not know where Ares is located, she directs Kiryu to another bar called Bacchus, where someone with knowledge of its location could help. Reina also helps Kiryu by letting him use Serena as a hideout and she takes care of Haruka Sawamura whenever Kiryu has to go somewhere.

It is eventually revealed that Reina had secretly been working with Nishikiyama by feeding him information on Kiryu's actions and whereabouts because of her ongoing feelings for him. However, Reina realizes that what truly matters the most is protecting men like Kiryu. She attempts to atone for her actions by shooting Nishikiyama at Serena, after which Nishikiyama calls his family to kill her. Shinji Tanaka, an ally of Kiryu's within the Nishikiyama family, saves her and fights most of the Nishikiyama family on the streets, leaving behind lots of blood. Despite that, Reina is killed by the Nishikiyama Family sergeant Kazuto Arase, who also kills Shinji shortly thereafter. Arase sadistically displays Reina's bloodied corpse in front of Kiryu, causing him to roar in anger. Kiryu then fights Arase and brutally thrashes him, avenging her and Shinji's deaths. Their bodies are taken to Purgatory, where the Florist of Sai has them cremated.
