"Kazuma Kiryu is family to me"
Haruka Sawamura (澤村 遥) is one of the characters who appeared in the first Yakuza game and continues to appear through out the whole series. Daughter of Yumi Sawamura, Kazuma's true love and was taken in by Kazuma after Yumi's death. Moved to Okinawa with Kazuma and now lives at Sunshine Orphanage with the other orphans. Haruka and Kazuma act like Father and Daughter.
She is voiced by Rie Kugimiya in Japanese and Debi Derryberry in the English version of the first game.
History
Yakuza
Haruka is a young girl searching for her mother, Mizuki, whom evidence seems to indicate is Yumi's younger sister. Haruka is also somehow connected to the money that went missing before Kazuma's release. A combination of these reasons and pure chance leave Haruka in Kazuma tentative custody. Before arriving in Kamurocho, she too lived at the Sunflower Orphanage. Haruka Sawamura is a 9 year old girl who was looking for her mother name Mizuki.She then met a man named Kazuma Kiryu,The Dragon of Dojima.Kiryu and Haruka get along well and both search for Mizuki and Yumi.Then she and Kiryu has discovered that Yumi is actually Haruka's mother.Haruka was the daughter of a evil MBI agent named Jingu who wanted the 10 billion dollars.At Ares,she found her mother.It was a happy reunion when suddenly,Jingu arrived.Jingu was planning to use the 10 billion dollars to reach to the top of the nation.Kiryu defeats Jingu and Nishikiyama arrived.Kiryu later defeated him.Jingu then recovered and was about to shoot Kiryu but Yumi defense him and get shot.Nishikiyama then kill Haruka's father and later her mother dies.She was taken care by Kiryu as Father and Daughter.
Yakuza 2
At nine years old, Haruka is an orphan. Her mother was Yumi Sawamura, Kazuma Kiryu's childhood love and his best friend's, Akira Nishiki, fiancée; while her father was Jingu, the head of the MBI. After her mother's death at the hands of her father (who was killed by Nishiki), Kazuma took custody of her as a father figure, although she affectionately calls him ojisan (おじさん) the Japanese equivalent for both "Sir" and "Uncle". Haruka was taken care by her uncle(father)Kiryu Kazuma.When Terada was killed by Omi Alliance Haruka stay at home.But then she was kidnap by Sengoku,Patriarch of Omi Alliance's Sengoku Family and Ryūji Goda,Patriarch of Omi Alliance's Go-Ryu Clan and son of Jin Goda,The Fifth Chairmen of Omi Alliance.However was saved by Kiryu.In the end she thank Terada who sacrificed himself to save Kiryu.
Yakuza 3
In Yakuza 3, Haruka is 11 (going on 12) and is living in Sunshine Orphanage with the orphans and Kazuma. Being older and a bit more mature, she tends to take on much of the responsibilities as the role of a surrogate mother or older sister. Haruka was nine years old and was with Kiryu Kazuma to say goodbye to Yuya and Kazuki because they were going to Okiwana to have orphanage there called"Sunshine Orphanage."She became 11 years old and help the orphans with Kiryu.Then peace was broken when Nakahara,Boss of the Nakahara Family and Daigo Dojima, the Sixth Chairmen of the Tojo Clan was shot.When Kiryu was gone for days or weeks,Yoshitaka Mine and the Tamashiro of Tojo Clan attack Sunshine Orphanage,Haruka defend the children.When Sunshine Orphanage was destroyed Kazuma went to recuse Nakahara.Then Haruka go with Kiryu because it be their last time at Kamurocho.At the end,she saw Hamazaki stab Kiryu and bleeding out.Kiryu survived though and it was a happy ending.
Yakuza 4
One year after part 3, Haruka is now 12 years old and soon she will become a teenager. She is in in Junior High, as can clearly be seen by the school uniform she wears. Her appearance in Yakuza 4 deviates a bit from her childish look, into a look that is a bit more physically mature. Haruka is 12 years old now.she go to Junior High and sometimes go shopping for the kids.She then met Saejima Taiga,A legendary officer that killed 18 men in Ueno Seiwa Clan and was arrested and sent to Okiwana No.2 prison.She then heard name"Hamazaki"when Saejima and Kiryu fight.She remember Goh Hamazaki,the man who stab Kiryu a long time ago.When Saejima left,Haruka,Kiryu and the orphans were alone.However,When she was about to go to the store she saw the man who stab Kiryu himself,Goh Hamazaki.She was eavesdropping Kiryu and Hamazaki about the 10 billion dollars which her father Jingu tried to have.When Hamazaki was near the children she told him to stay away.She was mad at Hamazaki.But at the hospital Hamazaki was shot in the back and told Haruka to tell Kiryu and Saejima to"Protect the Tojo Clan from the Police.It the only proof we ever walk this earth."At the end she was with Kiryu.
Yakuza 5
At the age of 16, Haruka has left the orphanage in Okinawa and is currently in Osaka pursuing her childhood dream of becoming an Idol.
Yakuza 6
At the age of 19, Haruka has an accident.

Haruka's Trust Level
In Yakuza 3, when doing the main story, you can only do things with Haruka in the last chapter, before fighting Mine, or when playing the The Ultimate Adventure, where you can continue the game without the storyline.
You can go to several places with Haruka, in Kamarucho and Okinawa. In Kamarucho and Okinawa you can go in all restaurants, but it'll only increase her trust level if she says 'Uncle Kaz!' and sucks you up. If you do as she wants, her Trust level will increase, the same way as going in stores to buy soda, anything, or even playing a game. But when playing a game, playing baseball, anything, you'll need to score exactly as she says, otherwise will be time and money wasted.
Haruka's Trust Level starts at F, and the bigger it is, more you'll score at the end of the game.

- As of Yakuza 5, Haruka is the only playable female character and mark the first time the series has a non-fighter protagonist.
- So far, she's the youngest protagonist to be playable, with Tanimura, aged 29, being the second youngest (not counting Kiryu in Zero, who is 20).
- Together with Kiryu and Majima, Haruka appeared in all of the mainline & spin-off games in the series under different appearances and identities. (Not including Yakuza 0.)
