Ed (艾德, Àidé/エド, Edo),[b] real name unknown, is an antagonist in Yakuza 6. He is an officer of the Saio Triad.

Appearance[]
Ed has a heavy build, described as intimidating. He has a bald head, a mustache and a goatee.
Attire[]
Ed wears a dark green suit over a navy dress shirt, two gold chain necklaces, and a pair of black leather dress shoes. He also wears a pair of silver round framed sunglasses.
Personality[]
Ed is a hypocritical, violent man. He kills without hesitation.
Involvement[]
Yakuza 6: 2015-2016[]
With the rest of the Saio Triad, Ed advances on Kamurocho after the Little Asia fire. By sending Triad members, Ed attempts to assassinate Shun Akiyama. While unsuccessful, Ed's attacks force Akiyama to go into hiding, causing Sky Finance to shut down.
In December 2016, Ed hears of Kazuma Kiryu's return to Kamurocho, and follows him. Along with other triad members, Ed follows Kiryu into the sewers, conveniently also finding Akiyama. Defeated by the two, Ed claims the fight was unfair, despite having four triad members backing him, and leaves. Ed's fate remains unknown.

Yakuza 6 Demo[]
Ed appears as Zhang, a top man of China who sent his henchmen to kill Kiryu while he is at Cafe Alps waiting for Kiryu to find him. He then fights Kiryu alongside Scar.
Fighting Style[]
Ed has three boss fights throughout Yakuza 6. In the first one, he is bolstered by several Saio goons, while Kiryu is teamed up with Akiyama. He is fought alone in the first two phases of his second encounter, but receives backup from large horde of triad members in third phase, while Kiryu in turn is aided by Nagumo, Yuta and Akiyama. He takes on Kiryu alone in his final fight.
Ed wields a karambit knife in all of his encounters, and has two separate fighting styles, both of which are vastly different from the other. Despite his massive build, he is capable of moving very fast and even acrobatically, as well as fighting with exceptional precision. His Heat Mode aura is red, like all other bosses in Yakuza 6.
Unskilled[]
Ed's fighting style in his first boss fight, and the first phase of his second, mainly involves sloppy punches and kicks, with a number of slashing and stabbing with his karambit. He stands upright with his right hand held out, twirling his blade occasionally. His moveset is comprised of the following:
- a Rush Combo made up of a left hook, a right push kick, and a downward diagonal left slash;
- a left jab-right low roundhouse kick combo,
- a right push kick,
- a right low roundhouse kick,
- a left haymaker,
- a downward diagonal left slash,
- a rapid leftward horizontal slash-downward diagonal right stab,
- a downward knife thrust,
- a grab counter where he grabs Kiryu's wrist and stabs his shoulder before throwing off,
- a command grab where he slashes Kiryu's right forearm, before twisting him around by his head while throwing him to the ground;
- a running tackle command grab where he stabs Kiryu in the midsection before letting go of him (Heat Mode only), and
- a right-foot stomp as a downed attack.
He has three different taunts, including:
- one where he beckons Kiryu twice with his left hand,
- another where he stands still while holding his knife up and twirling it, and
- a third taunt where he accidentally cuts his face while twirling his knife, dealing damage to himself.
Ed's unrefined moveset is reused by Dan Brody in Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Skilled[]
After the first mid-fight animation sequence in his second encounter, Ed transitions into a far more refined moveset, utilizing swift and precise slashes with some kicking and grab attacks. He takes a crouching southpaw stance with his right hand held up and left lower down. His attacks are listed below:
- a Rush Combo consisting of a high leftward horizontal slash, a rightward horizontal slash, and a low leftward horizontal slash;
- a low rightward horizontal slash-vertical downward slash combo,
- a downward diagonal left slash,
- an upward diagonal right slash,
- a leftward horizontal slash,
- a rightward horizontal slash,
- a downward slash,
- a hopping right roundhouse kick,
- a spinning left heel sweep kick,
- his grab counter,
- his command grab,
- a running leftward slash-tackle command grab, followed by his midsection-stab attack (Heat Mode only); and
- kneeling downward knife plunge as a downed attack.
His taunts are listed as follows:
- one where he stands uprights and walks forward slowly, beckoning Kiryu with his left hand; and
- his two knife-spinning taunts.
Ed uses his refined moveset for the entirety of his third boss fight.
