Ito Ittosai (伊東 一刀斎, Itō Ittōsai) is a character featured in Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan!. He is a bodyguard for the brothel Tsuruya in Kyoto and also a friend to protagonist Kiryu Kazumanosuke.

Appearance[]
Ito looks identical to his actor Susumu Terajima, with a tall body, a long face with prominent bones and sharp eyes. His hair is styled in a samurai topknot.

Background[]
When Haruka suddenly appears before Kiryu and asks him to kill Miyamoto Musashi, Ito helps his friend by introducing him to an informant, Hon'ami Koetsu (who just also happens to be a famous artist). It seems that Ito has been using Koetsu's network of informants for his own purposes, unbeknownst to Kiryu.
One day, Ito calls Kiryu to the beach and attacks him. When Kiryu defends with Musashi's signature two-swords style, Ito recognizes him immediately. Eventually, he relents, and explains his backstory to Kiryu.
It seems that one of the men responsible for smearing Kiryu's name, Sasaki Kojiro, is Ito's nemesis. He has been hunting this man for a long time. Ito was famous during the Sengoku era as a skilled swordsman, but his family and students were all killed at Sasaki's hands.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan![]
Learning through Kouetsu that Musashi also bears a grudge against Sasaki, he figured that the two of them should duel to see who had the right to take Sasaki's head.
Fighting Style[]
Ito uses the Ittō-ryū swordfighting style in combat, and holds his katana in the Chūdan-no-kamae stance. His moveset consists of:
- a Rush Combo made up of a downward diagonal right slash, a spinning rightward horizontal slash, and a spinning downward diagonal left slash (Heat Mode only);
- a high right-left slash attack,
- a rightward horizontal slash,
- a sword-thrust,
- a vertical downward slash,
- a running vertical downward slash, and
- a taunt where he claps his katana's blade with his left hand.
After his health bar has been depleted, Ito will get back up and enter Heat Mode, replenishing his health to full capacity.
He emits a yellow aura.
Ito's moveset is reused by Hasebe in his katana phase in Yakuza 3.
Trivia[]
- Ito's boss theme, "baile con la mariposa", translates from Spanish into "Dance With the Butterfly".
