Yakuza, known in Japan as Ryū ga Gotoku (龍が如く, lit. Like a Dragon), is an action-adventure video game franchise created, owned and published by Sega. The series strong sales in its original Japanese market has led to the franchise's expansion to other mediums.

Inspired by yakuza films, a popular cinema genre in Japan and written by crime drama novelist Hase Seishū. The game follows Kiryū Kazuma(桐生一馬), a previous and promising yakuza who is released after a ten-year prison sentence for a murder cover-up. The Tōjō Clan that he was once a member of, has had ten billion of yen stolen from the clan's vault, which has the entire Japanese underworld searching for. Forced back into their brutal and lawless world with these circumstances, a mysterious young girl appears before him and will lead Kiryū to the answers.

As of 2010, the series has include four main games which were released in chronological order, with each new instalment following the events of the previous title. There are also several spin-off titles.
